BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 400-325 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.57 g, 7 h). Head of Hera Lakinia facing slightly to the right, wearing stephane ornamented with palmettes. Rev. ΚΡΟΤΩΝΙΑΤΑN Youthful Herakles seated to left on a rock draped with his lion skin, holding one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on his club; below, bow. HN Italy 2167. SNG ANS 371 (same obverse die). SNG Lloyd 616 (same dies). A lovely and unusually complete example of fine style. Some horn silver, otherwise, good very fine.
